Bug Reporting and Developers Insulting Thread

This is the official thread for all your bug reports, please try to only report bugs here to let us easily find them.

How to properly report a bug

• Do not run other applications while running Chef. Also be sure the Antivirus is not messing with it.
  
• Report the issue you found in detail, use images or videos if necessary, the better you describe the whole process the faster and easier we can fix the issue!
  
• Upload your save game and the Unity log, that can help us A LOT when searching for the bug. Logs and saves can be found in “C/Users/(Your Username)/Appdata/LocalLow/Inner Void Interactive/Chef_A Restaurant Tycoon Videogame.
  Log file is simply named output_log.txt and it is updated every time you start the game, so go get it before a new run erase all the precious bug info!
  Save files are named save_(The name you choose).xml.
  You can upload those files anywhere and post here the link, or send them along your forum post to [e-mail].
  
  
• When insulting us for what we did (or didn’t) be creative not just blatantly offensive!

How not to report a bug

• Do not describe the issue using only two words. In most cases the more information we have, the faster we can squash the bug!
  
• Do not use too many insults in your report. Please respect a 50/50 insults/information ratio. We need that info!

Any bug reported here will be added to our internal QA Trello and we will solve it as soon as we can, and then add it to the changelog of t he next patch. In case a workaround is available, we will provide it to you!

Thank you =) Also I think I have encountered an end end - I select 'close a restaurant' on the lower right end in restaurant panel, and when it didnt close and just kept on losing money I selected to start my next day in that restaurant - the thing is, one of my bigger restaurants hired a lot of extra waiters in the process so when I am at the 'closed restaurant' I cannot hire waiters and thus cannot start the day =( I will email you the save

I will check with the programmer asap and see what could've happened. We fixed the bug but older saves may still be affected, we will work on a workaround!

I absolutely love this game... my only comment is at the top left where it shows how many customer's gone. Slow Service and Unsatisfying Menu both stay at zero making it impossible to know why your customers are leaving. I've been doing trial and error to figure it out but it's becoming really annoying. I would love if it can just tell you exactly why each customer left!

It should be already fixed, fix will be uploaded with the next patch!

Hello, i just unlocked my first star, but achievements to open a new restaurant don't work (starting a new game or moving or renting another restaurant) anywhere.

Hi guys,

Great game first of all.

I decided to start a new game after the update today (5.3.20). I moved the restaurant to a new location together with the staff. Staff keep working but they are invisible. Newly hired in the new place are visible though. It is not gamebreaking but stupid, less workers are visible.

Second bug I encountered is one of the chefs got stuck on the counter and he keeps preparing. Except he is not, just pretending that son of a cheapskate. Keeps pretending until 4am everyday and keeps all other staff, even the invisible ones so day ends after 4am. I guess I can fire him and hire another; but a bug is a bug.

If you need more detail or anything, let me know. Oh almost forgot 50/50 info/insult policy, here it goes. You should be given the title "father of tycoon games" because you just f***ed their mom. jk nice game.

Those are strange, we may need your save to check those! Please follow the instructions in the opening post and send us the stuff. With the stuff we will, uh, unbug the bugs!

I tried to follow the instuctions, got my d**k caught up in PC's fan. I think my save and stuff are in a different location but I could not find them. Steam games are installed in (D:), this might be the reason.
We are missing an in-game bug report system which gives you my save automatically. :(

They are probably just hidden, you need to change windows settings and let it show you all hidden folders!

I found several issues or bugs :

1. when owning multiple restaurants, sometimes when i switch to another restaurant and then back to the previous restaurant, i lose my influence for that restaurant but didnt get my influence point back. when switching yet again to another restaurant i can see that my influence is actually still there (the neighboring cities are influenced) yet the income i receive is as if it there was no influence.

2. When hiring new personnels for my 5th restaurant, i cant seem to find anymore waiters, everytime i roll refresh it just shows me chefs no matter how much i reroll or restart the game. Also if i reroll too many times, they wont show any more staffs to hire even though i cleared them.

3. one of the Luxury table (Luxury(4)) has no grid marking when setting it up on the restaurant (the one with grey patterns, not the plain white one) https://imgur.com/a/bd5z4FK

4. when trying to exit the game, sometimes the program stops responding and froze for a good min or two

hope this helps, and please make a way to filter the staff easier when hiring or specializing them.

You are right (well ofc), by manually typing I managed to find the folder. Next time I have an issue I can share my save. Nevertheless, when I loaded my save the invisible staff bug is fixed, also the stuck chef. I moved the restaurant once more and the invistaff bug happened again. I saved, quit, loaded again and it was fixed again. Just to let you know.
Another thing I came across today; when I got some alcohol in the menu, it gives a buff for working class but the name is bugged. Again, not game breaking issue but if I see it again I'll try to send some proof.
Ah also, when you go for the second star for your restaurant, the pop-up mission thingy says first star.
