The advanced selection for units is Low, Medium, High, Ultra, Extreme (experimental). I play on Hard/Hard and use the High level which gives you approximately 80 men. I haven't chosen anything higher so I cannot advise you any further. You'll have to experiment for yourself or wait for someone that has selected a higher level for unit composition.

It's a combination of the # { soldier barb_peltast_gaul, 40 , 0, 0.9 } in the EDU file and the graphics setting with low being X1 and extreme being X5, so 200 for this unit on extreme.

Great Empires Stand Along + Totalis Bellum. Uses the large Mundus Magnus map. He also slows down the battles so, combined with the larger unit sizes, they are a bit more epic. You can also see armies of 5-6k men. I've had battles with 2 armies on each side with nearly 20k on the battlefield. I'm running an old I-7 with a 1080ti and I have no issues and stay around 60fps even with 19+k on the field.
