Best MOD for battles?
Back in the day, I played a number of MODS on the original and the battles were like real grind fests, and I loved it! Front lines would engage for a good amount of time before breaking (unlike Rome 2!) and there was a slower pace allowing for lots of maneuverability and change of tactics.

I'll probably start off with EB, as my fading memory recalls that was the MOD that I had most memorable battles in. Do any other MODS, like RTR have similar kind of battles?

Any recommendations?

You might want to try out Total Rebalance III - Rome Rebundled (Complete Edition)"
It comes with drastic re-balancing for longer battles, new units, and new "campaigns" on the Europa 270BC map..

Not exactly same, because with more impactful cavalry charges & bit easier rout, but still slower paced than vanilla and with higher morale: Lenjane's Barbarian Empires, Scorched Ground, Arthurian Total War. In Scorched Ground I had some great battles against Huns - with like 12 000 soldiers on the battlefield, or more. Epic carnage.

EB is great, too. And I think the most popular RIS mod has similar slower battles. But it can be demanding for your computer, because of the graphics. I cant get that many troops on the battlefield, when playing it.

Thanks for the recommendations. Currently playing RIS but I'll check those out.

I've seen scorched ground in the workshop but not the others, so I'll have a look at those. Thanks.
I'm currently playing RIS and I've noticed my laptop getting pretty hot, CPU pushing over 80. Glad it's not just me.
Thanks again for the suggestions.
RIS greatly increases demands on your hardware. Not just you for sure.
