Rome Remastered is the perfect Total War game for beginners.
I have never been into RTS games, I find them daunting. I know that Total war battles are not exactly RTS, ...although they are :steamhappy:
This year I started playing EU4 and that got me interested in history: podcasts, books, etc, I started learning about the Romans and thats how I ended up here.

My point is that not every person is a CA fan that has follow their games for decades.

Rome: Remastered gets you into battle in a very gentle way, you start with very simple battles: take Segesta, Apollonia or Syracuse... then things start to escalate and by the time to face your first AI stack of doom, at least you have had time to figure out what the game is about.

Rome Remastared graphics are simple, but thats good when you are learning, they are clear, there is not a lot of "noise" it is a lot easier to focus. Which helps a lot in the middle of a battle.
Even though if the strategy part of the game looks "naive" and is very simple comparing Paradox games for example, again... it is very accessible, it feels relaxing and enjoyable to play. And the music is fantastic.

Last night I failed Rome 2 prologue scripted beginning, which is a bit embarrassing , I went to youtube to watch someone playing and i realised you needed to know a lot!. Having your triari ready against cavalry units coming from the left while your other units try to cross the river. It might seems obvious to you but it is not that obvious to the general public.

I all for challenges and I dont like hand holding in games, but Rome 2 throws you to the lions. And if you got a game for 10 bucks just to see what it is like... you probably wont even try a Total Game ever.

Thats why I see the point of Rome Remastered, a relatively nice looking game, simple but full of substance that might bring new people to the genre.

I think that even though I bought ALL the dlc of Rome 2, I am going to keep playing Remastered for the time being because I have a feeling that Rome 2 was made for Rome 1 players.

I found Barbarian Invasion DLC better than the base game. Hordes add a little bit tension and slight chaos, it is interesting to watch what they are doing. Shame can't really try how Barbarian Invasion is in Rome 2, since Rome 2 works bad in my machine.

But yeah, Remastered is a simple TW game, a good call for beginners, it is just that beginners want those candy graphics what Remastered lacks.

Rome II prologue is broken,it has never been updated. There has been a few threads on this from players, beginers like you.You could try playing Rome II in patch 17, there is no family tree.

In what way it is broken? The last battle is tricky, but you can finish the prologue and get the achievement.
