70 gb!?
Why do you think it requires so much of disk space? I know it is remaster, but it's still quite old game, and for example rome 2 requires only 35 gb!

the only guess i have, is that it's because of the 4k textures, but in this case i think it would be better to simply add 4k textures as a free dlc to download, as for example in aoe2, and make the game smaller for those who won't play in 4k anyway

or any other ideas why it takes so much space?

AoE2DE had the right idea by making the 4k textures a separate free optional DLC, idk if it is possible in RTW, but there is no way I'm losing 70gb for this

:47_thumb_up:

If it's due to the 4K textures, Feral ought to find a way to make that an optional download and not mandatory for everyone to help reduce the file size.
Yeah, being forced to download 4K textures for what should be a basic remaster is ridiculous. You might as well include 4K monitor in the recommended specs.

Will never understand the Windows 10 conspiracy theorirsts out there

It's the same type of people that refused to switch over from Windows XP until literally every game dropped support for it. They just latch onto whatever dumb thing they read online that supports their bias. I see it with Windows 10 patches as well. A media outlet reports that a tiny number of users are having an issue with a new patch and they instantly go into full doomsayer mode and start talking everywhere about issues like it's affecting everyone and Microsoft is trying to destroy everyone's PC.

You don't have to. it'll still work as an OS. But, the fact that it's not supported by microsoft, mean many companies remove them from thier network due to security requirements. So, you can't expect CA/Ferel to test with them. But, that's not on them for not supporting win 7. It's on microsoft.

It's an easy and free upgrade and has big improvement over Win7 - besides isn't as painful as a Mac where they ask you to upgrade their OSes every single year.

i have win 10 for a couple of years and i was better off with win 7
It had a more intuitive interface, and not this half-smartphone thing.
It went faster faster in desk functions and had a better search system which actually also had win 10 but after the updates it disappeared.
and finally win 7 still had a decent privacy system, win 10 minds your business and sends them to the Micro.

I had a better experience in Win10 taking advantage of all my cores and ram, saw an increase in speed and performance running apps under Win10.
Interface is more polished and refined, Win7 did really show its age by the time I upgraded which was a simple and easy process. Sure Win7 was ok, but there were too many system patches to go through. 7 and 10 always called home, no much has changed in that regards.

Game works in linux, there's always the option to dual boot win 7 and linux so you can have the game on latest linux OS while keeping win 7 that you like.
Linux is free and won't send any data or make updates without asking/being prompted first.

Medieval 2 actually is compressed if you unpack it its about 40+ gigs.(have not checked this myself yet so can 100% confirm) They should really do it medieval 2 style and just ship it with an unpacking tool

Also shogun 2 is very very compressed i like to make mods for it myself so i uncompressed it its above 100 gigs when uncompressed so if they compress the rome download it'll probably be 20 gigs or less
Exactly, why not ship with an unpacking tool? They said that they were going to give modding tools anyway
Well if they do, I hope they still leave the .txt files unpacked so we can easily check or change things like unit stats.

Still shocked you need almost high computer for remastered game

Windows 10 is more or less of a bad girlfriend.

As mentioned above, she doesn't really pay attention to you because she's always using her smart phone features. She's an addict, and stupid to boot. You explain simple things, like right-clicking, copy, paste. "What? Sorry, I can't do that." So you enter a command line and she gets this half dumb, half offended look on her face. Finally in desperation, you hold and drag the thing you want copied, like a stupid monkey (trying to write Shakespeare no doubt), and she's all, "Lemme get that for you."

Super jealous. You ever just unplug your internet for a while, or not touch your computer for a few days? As soon as Windows 10 connects again, she freaks out. "Where have you been!? Who have you been talking to?! Why didn't you text me every hour!?!" Then she proceeds to proverbially grab your HDD like it's your phone, and check every little thing before sending the reports back to Micro$oft.

Spoilsport. She knows you're going to play games with the guys that night. You check for updates six different times throughout the day, because you know she doesn't respect your plans. A few minutes after you've been talking on Discord your voice starts to distort and your game slows down. "Oh sorry, I just got an update. I'm going to need you to restart babe."

The list goes on, but I'm tired. 70GB sounds like too much. Windows 10 is a crappy relationship compared to the summer love of Windows 7. Still confident this game will be awesome.

I think you have the right target, as Steam often requires double the space on updates and installs, but physically will only take the half when finished. The music will be soundtrack quality, and other sounds will also be uncompressed. Graphics will likely double in space to accommodate the new/old feature. Thirty sounds realistic and reasonable.
