game won't start

Has anybody solved the problem, that the game doesn't start? Or am I the only one who has that problem?
When I click play a window with the title "Rome [...] Options" opens but doesn't show any content. It is just see-through.

I was really looking forward to play this game. Waiting for weeks after pre-ordering. And now i am kinda disappointed.

i hit play and then it loads something then nothing

I don't even get the little window - the game just immediately crashes. I can play my other Total War games from the launcher, just not Remastered

that's whats going on for me, i hit play, launcher closes, steam will load for a second and then nothing. don't know how to fix it.

Yep. Not sure what's going on here - seems like they did a beautiful job of the Remaster, apart from making sure that the game actually... you know... worked.

yeah, got all hyped up today to play it and it won't even start.

I preloaded yesterday..
and verifying data didn't help either

im gonna try to uninstall and install, maybe that will fix it idk

I also did the preload, and I have no idea why. I'm trying to Validate my Game Files just to try *something* but I doubt it's really going to help

Somewhere in the files (steam check) it says "We recommend using the steam runtime if possible". I did, but then it even load the options screen anymore. Trying proton next, which requires me to reinstall the game, that really is annoying and disappointing. :(

Yep same here I push play and it refuses to launch,It acts like its going to then just goes back to the play button,You would think they would make sure you could launch the game what with all the hoopla about the release.

yes i also preloaded (wanted to play as soon as possible), verified, tried launch options, ... now it needs 2GB more to download, see if proton solves the problem.

I'm going to go and have a shower so I'm less angry about the whole situation. Hopefully someone has a fix for this by the time I'm out.
