Are these elephants new to the remaster? ive never seen them before.

no they are not new they have always been in game African factions can make them.

Which faction? ive looked in custom army builds and cant find them or are you getting confused with the small little elephants?

I think you're getting confused with the smaller ones ive added another screen so you can see the size difference.

It's quite small on my screen, but is that the cheat unit you get from console -> Oliphaunt? The Oliphaunt / Yubtsteb Elephants? Definitely in the original as well, but obviously requires cheating and therefore disables achievements.

Not buildable by any faction by normal means. Which is just as well because it's the best part of a full-archer unit sitting on top of a very powerful elephant. Still gets beaten by one or two good phalanx units if I remember rightly.

Im not using any cheats also just click on the image and it will get bigger i had a slave rebellion in Crimea ive played this game for years and never seen elephants that big just the little ones.

Strange. I'm 90% sure that Yubtstep elephants are the name of the cheat unit you get from oliphaunt, so I don't think rebels should get access to it. Almost certainly a bug I would expect. Avoid autoresolving to get rid of them as they punch well above their weight there.

I just had a look and its apparently an easter egg from what i read https://www.reddit.com/r/totalwar/comments/1afl40/yubtseb_elephants_appeared_during_a_gladiator/ also thank you for not being a jerk like the other guy who commented earlier.

Maybe the cheat unit has been enabled for rebel armies.

They appear in revolts of Roman settlements with the arena building chain.

They come from the Oliphaunt cheat but apparently there's a glitch going around causing regular elephants to morph into them.

They appear in the slave revolts (gladiator uprising) when Roman cities have an Arena, Amphitheater or Coliseum building. no glitch that i know of that transforms elephants.

It's been a thing since the original Rome so I doubt it's getting changed

I did not know that they appear naturally, I just knew that very sparsely people have talked about them showing up. My mistake
