If you try to help allies early they just route.
Baaaah It's so hard xD. I love it. I just want to sweep them from the field than deal with those Elite troops last.
This should give you at least a chance. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to beat on very hard difficulty though.
Even if you somehow manage to kill the sacred band you need to destroy rest of the greek army which after depleting almost all of you cavalry is pretty much impossible.
Adding insult to injury the greek ai army is effectively immortal against your macedonian allied troops as long as the sacred band exists so unless you kill the sacred band quickly you have absolutely no hope in beating this battle.
It is pretty random you need to get two charges with Alexander each killing like 20 or 30 men each time or less the sacred band won't rout.
