Why not just play Rome 2?

Actual question not bait, that game still looks better than this remake and is surely better if this is completely faithful to rome 1?

Rome II is different enough that it really isn't the same game. I know plenty of people love it, but I could never get over the UI and design changes. There's simply a certain magic that the sequel was missing. The original just nails it.

I've been playing RTW1 all along, can't wait to see what Feral brings us. They did an amazing job on the mobile ports, so I'm excited.

I personally don't enjoy any total wars apart from warhammer, they are my ideal games but I just cant get hooked into them, I have to make myself play

That's the thing, Rome 2 IS NOT faithful to the original at all. Diplomacy is a joke, the AI is flat out broken (it's certainly not any better than the original Rome), and the incredible faction/unit variety from the original is completely gone.

Rome 1 is obviously an old game and there are quality of life improvements implemented into newer games that we now take for granted, but overall Rome 1 is actually a much better game than Rome 2.
