I've been looking all over, can't find a thing about it and this driving me up the wall.
So very rarely (Have heard it about 2 times in +200 hours) a gorgeous yet sad melody plays with what sounds like flute instruments and the piano. I know for a fact this is new since in over 400 hours of OG Rome I never once heard it.

I do believe it might be triggered by exterminating a city, as that is how I've heard the past two times. Anyone possibly have the name or at least a suggestion where to find it? I really like it but can't find so much as a mention of it.

Possibly "Contemplation" (from about 3:00 onward specifically)

Wow. I cannot believe I don't remember that. I even bought the version with the music CD way back and I still don't remember it from either that or the original game. You are not alone OP and I also agree it is gorgeous. Great find Cpl. Burden!
Well, I know they said they were certain it was a new track, but I don't believe any new music was added for the remaster (just, resampled versions of the original tracks) and that's a fairly obscure track from the original that seemed to fit the OPs description, so who knows?

Tis a nice track though isn't it? :)

That's absolutely it, thank you so much! I decided to look more into it and from what I've read this and one other song (the name escapes me at the moment) were cut from the OG release and put back into the remaster proper, which would explain why almost no mention of it or a video is found anywhere.

So get this, from what other people know this song only plays when you take your 47th settlement or so, which is oddly specific, but does line up where I am in my campaign now. Fits the mood too, given how many people you've slaughtered at that point, similarly to 'forever'.

Once again, thanks guys, couldn't find it without you and now it's resting nicely in the playlist!
No problem, glad I could help :)
