Instant death instead of down?

Can someone please explain to me how this works? I only play duos with my brother, and when one of us dies, we do not always get the option to revive the other. why do you instantly die sometimes when your teammate is still alive?

When you go down and the other guy doesn't kill you all the way, you can be revived right there. If he pumps you full of rounds after downing you you are dead dead and have to revived at a fire after he gets your heart.

No Hedge, what I mean is that sometimes i do not get the option to be revived on the spot because i got killed instantly (i do not mean i get downed first and killed after) . Sometimes there is no downed state even though my teammate is still alive. Is this a bug?

It's not a bug. You can take enough damage that you outright die without a second chance. In fact I think they made it so you have practically less health than before the feature was introduced, but I can't prove that. What I'm saying is that before you died when you lost 100 % of your health. Now you will go into DBNO with like 20% left over, but if no teammates are around to help you you essentially got screwed out of that 20%.

I think I understand what you mean but let me give you the example I experienced a few days ago, playing with my brother:

Me and him are alive, our first fight, i get sprayed with a PPD from very close while my brother is right next to me. I died instantly, but i was behind cover so it would not be from more damage while i was in a downed state, there simply was no downed state! just instant death while my brother is still alive right next to me.

It is possible that you took 100% damage from the PPD's bullets. I believe you can only be revived if you lose around 80-90% of your health. The PPD is one of the fastest firing guns in the game so at close range it might just be unsurvivable.

All I know is when I down someone I finish it. They rarely get back up or get picked up.

I know what you mean. My buddy got 1 shot insta killed last night a couple times. We didn't figure out why

Let me explain , headshots have a lot of damage, so if you get head shoted with low health you will be killed, if you get kill with a PzB or PTRs wich are the strongest guns in the game you will be 1 shoted and killed instantly , so yeah is about damage, gear also play a role in this, high tiers helmets and body armors can prevent the insta kill from stronger guns like MGs

I am pretty sure it's to do with headshot damage
