It's a waste of time and the devs should have rather spent the time on improving the actual game (like improving the two questionable boss battles).
Correct.
Extreme battle mode was cut though, I guess they didn't want to find a face model for the young Chris Redfield.
My hope is that for RE3R that they don't bring back the mercenaries mode as it was. It just felt like a tedious way to grind for unlockable weapons. I would much prefer accomplishment based unlockable weapons.
The RE3 merc mode felt like you were just in it to earn the money to buy the infinites. Not much of an accomplishment based. If they were to put in stipulations like completing a certain mode in a certain time/ not using certain items etc., that is more accomplishment based.
The RE3 merc mode was a joke, I was very young back then and was not very good at the game, but earning $100 each run through the merc mode eventually allowed me to buy $6000 unlockables. How is that even accomplishment?
I was hoping for a randomizer mode instead, something to give the base game more replayability by randomizing where items were and perhaps where enemies were too. The N64 version of the original RE2 had this as an unlockable mode so it wasn't officially off the table as an idea.
Unfortunately all we have is an unofficial randomizer mod that is VERY unstable and not really worth using in its current state. Last time I tried I got stuck at a point where any method of progression meant a sequence break that caused an infinite loading screen.
(on a serious note; grats on that achiev)
