Here is how I solve the portable safes.
https://imgur.com/Qovl28o
Just draw the circles, press a number, write that number in the circle that shows up. After just 7 presses you have the solution.
Or just write it like this, e.g.
7
1 4
3 6
5 2
So the solution is: 71352648
You can pretty much always start with 7
edit: as some others said though you should probably skip them if you're doing a speedrun, at least for S+ ranking.
1 5
2 6
3 7
4 8
^These correspond to the buttons. I have this already pre written down, then I click the buttons, and put the light position counting from the top counter clockwise next to it. to give a random example:
1-7 5-6
2-3 6-2
3-1 7-4
4-8 8-5
Then, all you do is press the button corresponding to the second number next to it. So my random example solution would be the buttons in this order: 3-6-2-7-8-5-1-4.
It never takes me any longer than a minute each to do them by doing it like this.
Make sense?
The brute-force method is to press a button and try to find the next in sequence. Memorise the number sequence and work your way up. After the first three, it gets faster by elimination.
The worst case, when someone has a leaky brain, is to use a sheet of paper, draw the 8-point circle and write the number of buttons after each one, then do the sequence. That also needs a minute maximum.
You can get every single item, even kill every enemy under 2 hours on hardcore when you know what you are doing, so there is plenty of room for errors and stumbling around a few puzzles and still get under time limit.
