Eh, it felt too out of place for me, so I personally stuck with the remake music and fx.

Yea the remake just doesn't sound as good as the original. I get that they're trying to make the game more "Immersive" by making the music subtle and less noticable, but even the RE1 remake had more notiable music and it still proves to be scary. (hell, in my opinion because of the soundtrack, the RE1 remake was way scarier than the RE2 remake)

I dont like REmakes bass-ey marching band sounding MrX theme. But I also do love the classic menu sounds, it makes me feel good.

I did my first playthrough "as intended" and switched to original OST for 2nd run. While I do find Remake's OST pretty good, dat RPD's Main Hall theme almost made me cry. Oh, and Underground Lab theme too.

I switched to the original. The remake just sounded boring. Hearing the original theme in the main hall brings back memories.

Yeah, there's no question about it. I played my first playthrough with the new soundtrack, then my second with the remastered old soundtrack. The game is 100% better with the old soundtrack.

Before release I was worried that the old soundtrack wouldn't work properly without door loading screens and fixed camera angles but it's implemented fantastically.

These ones are much better than original IMO.

I really need a mod to choose and put these in with the original ost.

Beyond that though, the remake music felt more like no music at all. Original soundtrack gives the hallways character and creepiness. Otherwise, it felt like ambient silence.

I've played 5 runs with the new OST and I'm on my 6th now using the old OST. I love hearing the old one, but I find myself missing the new soundtrack. The new one is very subtle and adds to the tension for me. I wouldn't play the original with the new soundtrack though.

I do understand why people don't like and also don't hear the new OST much. There does seem like very little there, I don't deny that. But I like it as it is for me.

Agreed.

I felt it didn't feel out of place at all. If anything I think it enhances the experince. Especially in the RPD portions of the game. Could just be the nostalgia talking I guess, but whatever. I don't think I will ever turn it off.

I always switch back to remake during leons finale. That track is godlike.

I also much prefer Mr.X's new track. Other than those, it's original all the way.

I thing the original ost is much scarier than new one.
I first played with new one, but my second run was with original one, and i feel differences.

I felt like a lot of music was missing, or areas had none at all. It would be great of those received some music too. Overall though, the original is vastly better.

I played with the Remake OST my first run and found it interesting it relied heavily on silence. Although the music does kick in when it needs to which I like.

I switched to the Original OST and didn't like it. In my opinion I find it too distracting that music changes with each room I enter... and all the songs are blaring too loud. The atmosphere gets buried by the Original OST. The Original carries a different tone overall and feels unnatural in most cutscenes.

I like the Remake OST more.

These are pretty much the only tracks in the new OST that can be considered full-fledged music and not more akin to indiscriminate ambient noise. You basically cherry-picked the only memorable and decent ones. The problem with the new OST is that it's just too sparse and nonexistent. The old OST, on the other hand, features a plethora of memorable tracks.
