In leon is there any point in crafting 9mm after you have the shotgun?

I mean, do you feel fine using shotgun shells on regular zombies? If so, hell no.

I personally find that about 70 handgun bullets do the trick for the entire game. You end up with plenty of shells by the time you enter the sewers if you've saved them and stockpiled and then that does you till end game.

In any other RE2 NO
I would save them for lickers, hunters, chrimeras, chromson heads ect

but in this game the shotgun is useless against licklers. i expect it wont be very good against G embyos and i will use fire for ivys

It may be good against woof woofs
The one piece of advice I'll give you about ammo is this: save some Mag bullets for the Tyrant fight at the end. If you don't, you're gonna be real sorry you didn't.

45 does more damage, but claire's revolver is super slow with reloading

There is a speed loader you can get for it.

That said I would suggest saving the rounds for the most part. There are sections where you can use it fine obviously but saving those shots for boss fights for the most part is suggested. ( Though the first Birkin fight they are not needed. I would not use them there. )

Most lickers are avoidable. Zombies are one shot with the shotgun unless you mess it up. However useless on lickers? No. But most of the time you just do not need to do it. ( At least in this remake ) But if you do want to they are still faster to kill with the shotgun than the handgun if that is what you are after. ( Think there are only a few times where you actually need to kill a licker in the game. )

Both handgun and shotguns work fine on hounds.. Obviously once again shotguns down them faster but it just depends on what point you are in the game and how much shotgun ammo you have.. A decent amount of hounds are also avoidable due to how they move and attack. ( Zombies and the G are the few enemies that you end up having to damage the most excluding bosses. That said you do not have to kill a lot of the G guys but you will need to shoot some of them. )

9 mm does 100 damage and 45 mm does 150 or so (depending on body part, and adaptative difficulty ratio).

He's talking about the Claire B revolver. She gets a different gun than what Leon B gets.

Good post but just a quick correction: the shotgun has a high crit chance (60% I think, then 90% with the long barrel) so it's not "messing it up," just getting slightly unlucky. That said most zombies won't survive 2 point blank shotgun blasts even without a crit.

I've seen some people with the complaint about the shotgun but keep missing their shots and that is why I have said it. And yes most zombies wont survive the first shot but once again I have oddly seen it happen on a few videos ( and also had it happen to me once when I was messing around trying to find glitches and wanted to kill one specific zombie quick.. The zombie took that first shot to the face like a champ lol. Not the 2end one though. )

.45 is definitely stronger, but the weapons themselves are a bit unwieldy. Leon's M1911 has a wonky aim and mediocre fire speed, Claire's Colt takes forever to reload.
Their basic guns fully upgraded are more effective, but you can only supply ammo by using base gunpowder, all ammo placement is .45.

If you are going for speed, the .45 is a better option. If you are on a challenge run where time is not important, you can entertain the idea to switch back to the basic gun once it is fully upgraded, and only craft handgun + magnum/SMG ammo only, no shotgun/grenade shells.
