How do I get back to the basement?

I am at the part where Mr X is chasing me throughout the station. Been doing over 30 laps around the whole station and I can't seem to find a way back to the basement.

Basement entrance is either west hall staircase or from chiefs office

If Claire = in the chief's office where you use the heart key

1F East, past the area where the 1st cop of the game got cut in half.

... but I would focus on completing the current objective if I were you.

for some reason, even with the map, I still have a little bit of trouble finding how to get there too, I always just run past the cop chop area
