Hey guys, i cant decide should i go right to hard or stay at normal? i like it hard, and chalange but im not masochist however, i dont like fact that there are no autosaves on hard, and if game is hard? i cant bother backtracking every so often. So what would you recommend?
Im planning only one playthrough.

I started with standard difficulty.

Play hardcore.

Hardcore = Normal
Standard = Easy
Assisted = Get another hobby
If you want only one, go with Hardcore. However figuring out how to complete the game for the higher ranking is a ton of fun.

When you can only kill a few zombies, because you want the best time, and you have to pass a hall filled with zombies it's a thrill. Screams and bloody arms come at you from all angles. You know you're one mistake away from death, and if you don't dodge this next zombie just right, the three behind you will catch up.

It gets the heart racing, and really is a blast.

If you decide to do more than one play through, i say start on standard. The unlimited saves, auto saves, and slightly easier zombies, will let you explore the game at a better pace. You can experiment with weapons, and methods, and save as much as you need to. After that you can do hardcore and get a more challenging experience, and a bit more fun.

Standard. No reason to start at hardcore unless you want to prove someone that you are some tryhard big boy gamer who does not tackle anything but highest difficulty. There are plenty enough newbie traps that will kill you on your very first run regardless.

Do hardcore! It’s actually challenging.
i'd recommend hardcore, simply because there isnt any tension if you can save every 3 rooms
(just my opinion)

but you answered your own question if no auto saves are a deal breaker for you ;)

On hardcore there are like 20 or more ink ribbons anyway, you can save whenever you want in hardcore aswell.

yup, probably closer to 30 ... but with limited saves you wont save every time you pass a writer, therefore you have more to loose > higher tension

And let's not forget the six smaller inventory size, because that is always super fun when you are trying to learn the item placements and the route for the first time, which includes getting at least three of the five films that you must develop.

Well no autosave is not deal breaker except if its tedious, i love how alien isolation did it with only manual saves at points, and where does RE2 compare to RE7 in difficulty?

Standard is easier than RE7 normal, Hardcore is… on par with Madhouse, but it is different. Madhouse was mostly difficult since you had to re-search everything for the different item placements and those fat ♥♥♥♥♥ in the salt mines could end you in one hit. RE2 hadrcore is difficult because you take a lot more damage, enemies can reach higher damage resistance through difficulty adjustment, and they move somewhat faster. Progression is the exact same, however, three of the inventory expansion pouches were completely removed.

been a while since i played RE7 so i cant really give you a comparison ...
i can tell you though that the game always gives you an ink ribbon before a boss fight, so you shouldnt have to spend too much time on backtracking

edit: oh and just to point it out, "hardcore" makes it sound alot harder than it actually is ... if the game had difficulties like hard/very hard/nightmare its around "hard"

I used to play all games at the hardest possible difficulty and if I couldn't beat them like that then sucks to be me.

I guess I'm getting lazier at worst or less masochistic at best, because for this game I started off on Normal and then switched to Hardcore for the next run. But honestly Hardcore would have been perfectly manageable for a first run, just make sure not to run out of ink ribbons (save every time you reach a new typewriter or solve a "puzzle").

Thank you all for answers, i think il go with hard, i like that tension that it adds.
Reason why i will play just once is difficult to explain, but i plan to play it again on hard and achievements run in ~2 years.
