Is it still possible to buy the original?

There's probably a HD remaster for the original on steam, but I wanna know if I can still get the original RE:2 with no enhancements to the graphics. I just want a good nostalgic gameplay of it.

If you do not have an old console like the PS2 then no, you need to emulate it.
But if you do have a PS2 or something, ebay or amazon will be your best bet.

Best PS2 emulator is "PCSX2"

You can buy the PS1 games on the PS Network and play them on a PS3 or PS4.

Oh and all the old games (RE1, RE2 and RE3) are PS1 games.

Just get a used PS3 and buy it off PSN for 6 dollars.

I believe ePSXe and PSX emulator are the best. Just my personal experience, though.

The original PC release doesn't work well on modern systems unfortunately. It was also never released on steam, or digitally on PC.

Arguably the best version of the original is the Gamecube version with full analog control support. The dolphin emulator works amazingly well for it too.

Also, there never was or at this rate will be an HD version of RE2. AFAIK, Capcom sent a cease and desist letter to the people who were working on one. Your best bet remains the GameCube version, it is the best one for casual play. (Or the SourceNext WinXP port with an additional English patch on PC if you prefer the keyboard controls.)

i got RE 2 on pc, it works, not great though. it needed tweaking with to work. then getting the controller set up for it was a pain. i just stick the old ps1 disc on or my use my vita if i wana play it.
