Edit: though Claire never even gets a shotgun even in the original and honestly I'd still take the grenade launcher in the remake over the bowgun she got in the original.
I'm running shotgun and flamethrower on Claire and no double Mr. X issue here. You can also acquire Leon's weapons as Claire without mods, via using a certain trainer on Nexus - but it's not as simple as straight up adding the item to your inventory.
I use an item randomizer with the extra weapons option. That one will sometimes make the game unfinishable occasionally.
Pros:
-One-shots zombies at any range and hitting them anywhere in the body, whereas the shotgun only one-shots at close range with a headshot.
-Fires two types of rounds - flame rounds (which are picked up) and acid rounds (which are created via gunpowder).
-One-shot kills Lickers if they are on the ground, whereas the Shotgun can require multiple headshots at close range with the shotgun.
-Only upgrade is obtainable while you are in the parking lot of the police station, whereas the shotgun's first upgrade isn't available until you escape the police station and it won't be fully upgraded until you are in the sewers.
-Flame rounds destroy ivy zombies in a single hit, whereas the shotgun cannot kill them and the chemical flamethrower requires a few seconds of burning.
Cons:
-Only fires one shot before reloading, whereas the shotgun has a capacity of 4, which is later upgradeable to 8.
-The reload of the grenade launcher is significantly slower than the shotgun.
-The grenade launcher is awful against the G monster that is fought on the elevator at the end of the game (although the game gives you a minigun which shreds through it, regardless)
Yes, but the submachine gun (MQ 11) is the equivalent of Leon's magnum pistol (Lightning Hawk).
Me too. I guess they would have been too similar to hand grenades but I still wanted them.
I meant in the sense they would both deal the same explosive shrapnel type of damage. I always preferred the way 1 handled grenade rounds with the single projectile rather than what 2 did.
I wanna cut zombies in half and want their intenstines on the floor lol
