Why doesn't Capcom make Silent Hill?
Wouldn't this game be scary if they had Silent Hill? Remaster the original and mix it up so scary like? I remember used to be getting freaked out being chased by something in the dark in the school building!

Exactly why they don't make them, I really wonder if OP even did the most basic amount of research regarding Silent Hill and who were behind the series.

Pretty sure OP meant, Capcum remaster Silent Hill with the RE engine in the same vein as RE2 Remake.
Ofc it's a Konami game, but they aren't doing anything with it.

I'd like to see the Silent Hill 4 the Room get the RE engine treatment. That game's sound design was spine chilling.
I remember buying chocolate milkshake at school to bring home and drink it when my elder brother played the game.

Because Capcom never had or never will have a competent writer. I seriously doubt anyone of us ever loved any of their games for their storytelling capabilities. Which is kinda important if you want to make a psychological horror.

RE never was psychological horror, never aimed to be psychological horror and never positioned itself as psychological horror.

The real franchise name, Biohazard, tells you all you need to know: big corporations messing with biological experiments with catastrophic results and cool guys and gals figuring it all out in a B-movie setting.

That's what is, what it always has been and what should be expected of it. Why even compare to SH?

Same reason Capcom doesn`t make Mario games.

You'd need a developer with real passion for horror games, competent storytelling and character building, and willing to take some risks to handle a franchise like Silent Hill, not Capcom.

While I don't in any way mean to say Capcom is suitable for SH, I think they've proven capable of taking risks with RE7.

It was a decent psychological thriller.

Well i will admit that RE2 still gave me quite a good scare for the game though. It still is fun. I wish we had more scarier games like this or Silent Hill out there. Maybe one day.
Shark Boy 8 out. 2019 às 16:23
Konami still uses the Silent Hill IP for stuff like pachinko machines so I doubt they would just hand it over to Capcom. With how controversial Silent Hill 1 & 2 were, I don't think we'll ever see another one at that level. Which is a shame considering how great graphics are these days.

A great example is Rule of Rose. Most retailers didn't want to carry it. Anything about children gets censored so easily, especially when it comes to video games.

The only thing that I know about being "controversial" about Silent Hill was when Konami said "♥♥♥♥ you fans we're shutting down Silent Hills only known as the demo PT"
Edit: also its not just visually, the bus in Death Toll in L4D1 was once gonna be a school bus but because of just the THOUGHT of children being harmed ended up pressuring Valve into changing that bus from a school related bus to a church related one... yeah to be quite honest I don't understand how that was a-ok while a school bus wasn't, children go to church just about as much as school but ♥♥♥♥ it apparently the people that originally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about that to be changed are sinners.

Closest thing you're getting to a Silent Hill game these days is Darkwood.
