Ghost Noises are too loud
The ghosts are super cute and fun, but they make a constant "whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" noise whenever you move, and it persists for a couple seconds after stopping.

I use headphones to hear every little sound cue, and the ghost noises drown out several more important cues, such as worm digging sounds.

This problem becomes far worse the more ghosts you adopt, as they each increase the volume of the noise. In my most recent long run, going for 33 orbs, I took on 5 hungry ghosts and several others, and I can't hear any of the subtle sounds of the environment or enemies over the noise.

One solution would be to only let them make noise when they act, such as when the hungry ghost eats a projectile. Another solution would be to have the sound they make randomized, or scaled in volume based on the presence of enemies. Alternatively, you could cut the sound out entirely, or greatly reduce it in volume, and very little would be lost.

Unfortunately, the only solution I found that wasn't incredibly awkward and required computer skills was simply to not take duplicate ghost perks. If you're mid-run and already have lots of ghosts, you can visit the nullifying altar and removing the perks.

That being said, there is a way to modify the audio files, by following the instructions in this link [noita.fandom.com], and replacing the irritating audio file with a blank one.
In theory.

To be completely honest, I got fed up trying to make a no-sound file or deleting the ghost whoooooo sound file, but it should work if you follow that path.

Losing my mind trying to do exactly this because that sound is godawful in headphones.

I cannot seem to find where in the world the sound is located, the one that SHOULD be it as marked on the wiki appears not to exist inside any file I've extracted, which makes zero sense.

Good news, everyone! Well, most people, at least. Alright, so, the issue is in the file location. The file you need to swap out for silent audio *is* hover_ghost.wav, but it's *not* the one in under animals or misc. You need to replace the hover_ghost.wav under projectiles, which will silence the little ♥♥♥♥.

Edit: Possibly not as simple as it seems. I only had Hungry Ghost at the time, but upon acquiring Angry Ghost, it started back up again. This time, it seems replacing the hover_ghost.wav under animal worked. Further testing needed.

Edit2: Mournful Ghost didn't make any noise, so that one uses one of the two previous ones.
