For my situation, it wasn't even an old instance of circle of thunder. I shot it as part of a spark bolt with trigger payload and jumped into it expecting nothing to happen because I had been using it for several hours up to that point. I was shocked, no pun intended. I had basically reached the point in the game in which I could buff my spells to do millions of damage and thought I'd try out circle of thunder, since I've never actually used it before and generally find circle of stillness more useful.
Of course, I'm very well aware of friendly fire-enabled skills in Noita, so I made sure to check the Wiki to confirm that this skill was safe to use. Based on all of the information provided, I never, in a million years would've guessed it'd kill me. I also had electricity immunity, like you. The worst part is that you don't get a snapshot of your wand loadout when you die, so I started to doubt my own memory, wondering if I put piercing in my wand by mistake. Needless to say, it's going on my backlist along with venomous curse for bugged spells. I'm never using it again.
