no audio at all

Was working fine until today. all files verified, reinstalled, only program affected and it will not return.

No music, no sound, not in the menus, and not in game. Complete and utter silence. I tried booting the game this evening and the game froze for a minute on continue and that's when the audio died. And yes, I checked system settings.

Does anyone have a fix that ran into this before?

8 days later. Still no audio and nothing fixes it. This is so much worse than the bug that gets you stuck inside single pixels. At least you can start a new run when that happens; you can't play in complete silence.

Just put Windows in the trash where it belongs and forget about it.

That's the plan. New laptop is on mint now and will be replacing windows on the pc in the next little while.
