The Work and New Game Plus

Hello. I've previously finished Noita twice via the The Work, turning myself and everything into gold. I've wanted to get into the meat of Noita outside of the traditional run to The Work to experience more exploration, new endings, and new game plus.

I'm currently on a new save file on a new machine because my old hard drive failed so currently I haven't finished the game once. I've been playing under the impression that I need to have finished the game through The Work in order to be able to enter new game plus and get other endings. Is this even true? Does that ending unlock anything or is it completely avoidable forever?

I doubt you have to do a normal ending to enter NG+; even with 0 wins and 0 deaths, doing the steps to enter NG+ (collect enough orbs and place the item from The Laboratory on the altar above the mountan) should get you there.

Note that NG+ isn't all that interesting when it comes to the secrets Noita has to offer. It's just the same game except enemies take longer to kill and nothing's in places where you can easily find it.

NG+++ and 33 orbs in NG+ give you tree achv pillar boxes, otherwise it is just scaled up enemies with less holy mountains.
