Best time to back up save?
I've had 2 god runs now lost to save corruption so I'm gonna start backing up save00. Is it better to copy the folder before exiting the game or after. How do I know that the save won't be corrupted right after saving and exiting which means I'll just be copying a corrupted save. Or does the save only get corrupted on loading it?

The game won't let you back up saves any more. It takes out a bunch of things you need to beat the game if you try that.

Save & Quit then copy the save file. If your worried about corruption keep multiple backups so if a save is corrupted you can go back to an older file.

Really? What exactly the game does, can I read about it somewhere?

It removes all holy mountains and orbs of knowledge.

It only does that if you try to copy the save file on the death screen and reload. There is no issue when the save file is copied after a Save/Quit while Minä is alive.

I tried that out and can confirm that. Other mountains were not touched.

I remember in the past you could also only bkp your char and start a new save with them.

Can this work for reloading previous saves? Like, if I do a Save and Quit, then load back in, but then it crashes or breaks, can I reload from the last time I saved the file?
If so, can you explain it step by step on how to do that?

I found out that you can save and exit to create a save point. Then force quit the game if you die. Your last save won't be deleted, as long as you don't touch any menus.

Ah, ok. I'll try this.

Yes. As long as you keep a copy of the save(s) in a secondary location you can move it back and play from whenever you made it. You will however lose all progress that has been made towards the Progress Page and Pillars after the save has been made.

When you want to make a "save point" in your play-through. Save & Quit then go to Users > (Username) > AppData > LocalLow > Nolla_Games_Noita and copy the save00 file. Put the copy somewhere you can easily remember / access. When you want to go back to that save point go back to the Nolla_Games_Noita folder and delete save00 then replace with the copied file.

If you are going to do this often I would also make a shortcut for Nolla_Games_Noita folder on your desktop to speed up the process.

Are you sure this works? I tried this for myself and couldn't get it to work. After force quitting with both Task Manager and AltF4 when Noita started up again there was no option to continue the save.
