Acid
Polymorphine
And a melee attack when you’re frozen.
Toxic sludge from what I’ve seen also scales up in damage depending on your max health and should be way more common than acid.
Acid releases flammable gas when it melts stuff (which 90% of the time is what it’s doing), it’s also a darker green color and it releases small green particles on the surface of the liquid, you can also mouse over onto the liquid itself to see the text say “acid” and not “toxic sludge”
Acid also does not turn into toxic sludge when it hits the ground. What enemies are you fighting where it does this?
Second, acid eats through pretty much any material. If you see a pool of green liquid, it's toxic sludge.
Third, sludge is bright green and acid is dark green, along with having the tooltips saying what each is. You should have no trouble telling them apart.
Fourth, if you still can't tell them apart, spray a few drops of water into it. If it starts becoming water, it's sludge. If the water turns into flammable green gas, it's acid.
Fifth, even if after all of this you somehow can't tell them apart, avoid it. If you can't, practice. Because otherwise you really aren't going to beat Noita, especially when poison starts popping up as well.
