How to use Debug Mode
Surprisingly enough, I couldn't find a single accurate guide on how to use debug mode, only how to enable it.

So here's what I've found about the controls so far:

Actions
Enter: Make your character disappear or reappear. Will create a new character if there is no living character.
WASD/arrows: Pan camera while you have no character. Speed modified by shift(fast), control(slow), and alt(lightspeed)
H: Make an explosion
Z: Spawns one of those red-eyed enemies you find in the mines
Shift-Z: Spawns a shotgunner
X: Spawns a worm
Shift-X: Spawns a giant worm offscreen

Tools
Ctrl-Tab: Material selector. Select a material by clicking. No idea how to actually create anything though.
R: Load ragdoll from file

Visualisation
V: Simplify graphics
B: Show collision boxes (only appear when required)
N: Show entity bounding boxes and particle physics simulation regions
F8: Toggle fullbright mode

Properties and information
L: Show entity and world properties
Ctrl-L: Show some more world properties
Ctrl-I: Hides the above two windows
Ctrl-P: Gives a huge amount of arcane, live-updated information.
Alt-T: Prints spells that can be found in each level to the console. Processor-intensive.

Unknown
M: File select
K: File select
P: Gives an error about not being able to load a nonexistent file
Alt-L: Momentarily freezes the game, presumably doing something processor intensive.

I forgot the key
Load world region from file (if you select nothing, it turns everything onscreen into air)

F8 is fullbright, it's listed as "toggle shaders"

so a very late reply. but since I found yours helpful I thought I'd add my 10p
got this from the Dev Build Apr 23 2001 - 18:40:40

F1 - Show / Hide debug key map
F2,F3,F4 - Screenshot/Select area for GIF/Record Gif
Shift+F4 - Records video (fullscreen)
Ctrl+F4 - Records video selected area
F5 - Toggle debug mode
(while in debug mode you can spawn spells from your inventory screen)
F7 (+Shift/Ctrl) - Open various debug menus
F8 - Toggle shaders on / off
F9 - Toggle Log levels
Ctrl+F11 - Saves the world to a file
Ctrl+F12 - Loads the world from a file
F11 - Quick saves the world
F12 - Quick loads the world

Return - Spawns / Despawns the player
Arrows - Control camera in debug mode
Ctrl + U - Pause / unpause the simulation

I+Click - Open hovered entity in the inspector
(I find it easier how hold Ctrl before hitting I since I normally opens the inventory)

Shift+U - Save selected player item entity into a file
Ctrl+Tab - Toggle Material menu
0-9 - Debug material select
0-9+Shift - Debug brush select
Ctrl+LMouse - Debug draw material
Ctrl+RMouse - Debug destroy material

H - Huge explosion (I'd recommend using Return to make the "player" despawn first)
P - Creates a peasant
Shift+P - Creates a Test Wand
Y - Creates a barrel
M - Creates a vegetation sprite
R - Loads a ragdoll
T - Loads a pixel scene (Clears scene rect)
Shift+T - Loads a pixel scene
Z - Loads a zombie
Shift+Z - Loads a shotgunner
Shift+Alt+Z - Loads an SMG scavenger
X - Loads a worm
, - Material picker
K Load an image with mouse material
Shift+K - Convert all materials to mouse material
J - Physics joins

Ctrl+U - Pause simulation
Shift+U - Save player's current item

B - Toggle Debug draw Boc2D
Shift+B - Toggle Debug draw update rects
V - Toggles smooth rendering on and off
N - Toggle CollsionChecker debug drawings

L - Open weather / parallax background config

Ctrl+P - Open Profiler window, list of all the things
Ctrl+Shift+P - Open Profiler Bars
