How is it on Steam Deck?
Is anyone playing on Steam Deck? If so, what's the experience like? I see that it's Verified, but I've also seen people mentioning crashing, controller issues, etc. All those could be isolated, and it could be perfect now, so hopefully someone actually playing fairly recently have share their thoughts.

Thanks.

I primarily play on the Steam Deck and think it's great after changing some controller settings:

In Steam Input, I changed right trackpad to Mouse Region mode, which I actually find far superior to both the default mode, or any sort of joystick aiming. I explain it in depth in the description of my demo video here. (I've since gotten much better at the game BTW, and might make an updated, more detailed "Noita on Deck" video.)

In the Noita control options, I turned off Gamepad Auto-Detect, which fixed some weird movement issues. Then I made sure all inputs were mapped to keyboard/mouse actions only.

Performance-wise I think it's on par with the average desktop experience: Very smooth during normal play, the usual slowdown when things are happening all over the place. You could try turning Cosmetic Particles down and tweaking other settings if it happens too much for you. Funny thing is I thought I had turned Cosmetic Particles off, but I think a cloud sync overwrote it with my desktop settings or something, so I've been playing with maximum particles the whole time. Apparently it wasn't enough of an issue for me to notice.

I haven't had any sudden crashes, *but* if you use the Steam menu to exit the game (instead of "Save & Quit" within Noita), the next time you start the game it will pop up the dialogue saying it detected a crash, and ask to load the autosave. So, free autosave feature on the Deck! I've actually exploited this a few times after some dumb deaths.

Thank you! That's really helpful. I got my Steam Deck yesterday, so I'll hopefully get to Noita soon.

So I tried turning Mouse Region mode on and disabling auto-detect on the controller settings and it's not working for me. If I just do Mouse Region mode on for the right track pad I can aim but it makes me unable to move or do anything else other than aim.

Any ideas how I can get this working correctly?

Hmm besides what I already said (check all inputs map to key/mouse instead of gamepad presses), I don't know what else could cause this. Maybe you can try joining and asking the Noita Discord.
If you are crazy enough to play Noita with a controller then it's decent enough.

Can you not play with the touchpad as mouse?

I've since found a community layout that worked.

The stock settings on the touchpad were way too sensitive for me to be practical.
