How do I put something in my flask without eating it?

I'm trying to put a liquid in a flask but my character keeps eating all of it and most of it is wasted

Get in a deeper puddle.
Also you don't need to press down to fill a flask.

theres a limit to how much you can get from a shallow puddle yeah. Just point the cursor down and tap down over and over it will avoid eating and seems to help some get in the potion

Simply stand in the liquid with an empty flask. Pressing down makes you eat.

You can't get every last bit into the flask, though. There's always a little bit left on the ground.

Hold it in your hands and get the mouth of the bottle in the liquid.

Or you can try gingerly dragging it from your inventory screen and tossing it into a pool, but it'll often only fill if it happens to stay upright.

Advanced tech: dig under the liquid to within a couple of pixels, hold the flask and jam into it from underneath.

I found that swinging my hand through the liquid helped in shallower puddles. I think it pushes a bit of it around and lets it go in the bottle
