Racing Mini-game? (repost due to early locking before I got my answer)

found this weird little track while going up the passage between the Mine and the Frozen Cavern. Anyone know what to do here?

Karl, the robot, will travel in the direction of where you are aiming when you are levitating. Apart from that, there's no reward for going fast, It's just a cool easter egg.

you know the chasm betwwen the lava lake and the orb room in the Mines? its down that at a part on the left side that has a crack in it

Found it myself yesterday, when was going for lava-lake orb... and trashed it with black hole when was digging the wall
On the first lap Karl fly of track to the hole in the wall and disappeared ...

You used to be able to in Beta, but that may have been before they made it a background object.
