Are you required to dig holes in holy mountains so you have a place to edit wands?
After going for a regular victory and now exploring more of the map, the lack of ability to gather and modify spells is very limiting. Do I need to luck out on a black hole in every run?

yea i found it kinda odd, the spell building is one of the main features of the game. i havent beaten the game yet but so far it seems to limit your experimentation alot, most of the time i find myself in the snow place still using the starting spell with mabye some more or less useless mod

There's ways to get in or out without triggering the collapse, or you might get tinker everywhere.

There's plenty other ways to dig out other than just black hole, too.

You can use polymorphine or teleportatium to get in/out of the Holy Mountain without triggering the collapse, if you're careful.

Luminous Drill/ Black hole are useful for digging out of the Holy Mountain, but you can also use acid spells/flask in the water reservoirs to dig out of holy mountain.

You could also use earthquake shot modifier if you find that to destroy the brickwork near the exit to create a gap to leave.

Ground to Sand modifier would also be ideal to create an exit.

Essentially, there are a lot of options if you're clever with your resources.

Keep in mind though, if you do destroy brickwork, you'll have to fight a Stevari which will spawn above the perk altar when you "Anger The Gods."

...Also, Tinker With Wands Everywhere is a must-take perk, if you see it.
