any way to remove a perk/essence?

I'm having a really good run and just steam rolled everything above level 3 and to the east including the bosses. I got to ??? and picked up the perk essence of earth. Luckily I have explosion immunity, but this is just annoying as hell. Can I edit a file or something?

I was having the best run ever last night and picked up freezing field thinking it would slow enemies who got too close or even freeze them in place, I'm new to the game and don't know most of the perks but I had eletric field once so I guessed it would be similar.

I hate myself.

You can probably edit the file, I don't know what to change to fix it though.
(if you had a save right before and after you picked it up it would be easy to figure out.)

The only time essences are worth picking up is if you want to get the Destruction spell on your list, and that is a really annoying waste of time honestly.
