Chests of light and dark rant (spoilers)

I set out to open the chest located in the cloudscape above the pyramid in the desert. So I killed the alchemist, got the crystal key and went to the music machines to play music for the key. However, the music machine in the desert east of the pyramid did not play any music when I kicked it. I thought I must have damaged it somehow so I gave up.
A few days later I tried this quest again. It took a few hours but I did all the necessary steps, until I got to the music machine in the desert, or at least I got to the location where the music machine was supposed to be. It wasn't there!!! It didn't even spawn in! I spent so much time on this. I feel cheated. They didn't move the location of the music machine, did they?

music machines have very few hp.
I don't think I've run into one not spawning before...

There are several in game, in addition to the west-most one in Desert, in case something happens to one.

One usually spawns between the Desert and the mountain entrance inside the mini-lake.

One on top of the Giant Tree west of mountain entrance.

One on the Island with the Wicker Man in the Lake.

I looked everywhere, I even dug underneath the sand because I remember it used to spawn there sometimes. Anyways, I've finished my run so I'll try again some other time.

I know there are 4 machines on the surface but I needed all 4 for this quest and the 4th one didn't spawn for me.

Well, sometimes when a Steve is in a Holy Mountain, perks will sometimes be missing.
If I load a save from before going near that holy mountain sometimes the disappeared perks show up.

This game sometimes can have entities disappear that shouldn't for some reason I guess.
(I've just never had it happen with a music machine before.)

Same thing happened to me before, they are aware of it and fixed it on the current beta patch. You can play on Beta by selecting it from the Properties

in beta branch music machines spawned inside "other" worlds and you always can solve puzzle.
