Weird transparent enemy

I encountered a weird transparent enemy, that I couldn't seem to do any damage to.

It was a big grey blob shape, that only did melee damage (but I had melee immunity), that I encountered in the lower areas (Temple of the Art etc).

The blob would follow me around, and seemed able to pass through terrain.

But none of my wands, or explosions, or fire, or acid, seemed to damage it.

What is it, and can you kill it ?

I've killed it by lukki's mutation. It doesn't give my gold >:(

It's paired with one of the random floating crystals that can be found """nearby""". Killing the crystal kills the blob.

I didn't actually know this. I thought it was just some enemy to add artificial difficulty to the, usually, fairly trivial last layers.

Also I've encountered them in the first layer twice. So I guess you need to add a few more quotation marks.

To be fair, I think most enemies can spawn at any level just with drastically reduced chances (1st level acid floaty guys, ghost witches etc), so in theory a crystal could have spawned with it.
