how to get good wands...
maybe i have really bad luck, or maybe i suck (probably both) but i never seem to find good wands or spells in any of my runs. ive done about 100 and the best thing ive found is probably a wand with 4 bounce spells and a very low cast delay.

The truly good wands are the ones you make, but this obviously requires you to get at least 2-3 levels deep so you can accumulate a number of wands and spells. The key is to find a wand with decent base stats and MAKE it a good wand by experimenting with different combinations of spells. Also, the order that you arrange the spells in the non-shuffling wands slots can make a huge difference in how it performs. Particularly, I prefer to avoid wands that have shuffle because the random shuffling makes it difficult to control how the spells and spell buffs perform. I prefer non-shuffling wands because the spells and buffs execute predictably from left to right, allowing you to create devastating combos if you arrange the spells in the optimum order. Experiment with the spells and modifiers in each temple, and try rearranging their positions in the non-shuffle wands until they produce the best output.

Also, reconsider spells that you may have disregarded previously. What I mean is, if you thought a spell or modifier sucked in the past, then you may have gotten into the habit of ignoring it every time it appears thereafter. Give those spells that you have written off another chance, particularly when paired up with buffs and spell modifiers that make them better.

For example, when I first started playing I thought the TNT spell was lame, mainly because it has a limited number of charges and the blast radius is fairly small. So I made the mistake of ignoring it every time it appeared. But recently I decided to give it another chance and realized that I had been missing out on a really powerful spell. Sure, it has limited charges, but wands that come with it often have loads of charges already installed, and you get the free replenishment in each temple anyway. The small blast radius doesn't really matter either, because you can still wipe out groups of enemies with it. And best of all, you can use it on the second level to access the gold veins and accumulate way more gold than you otherwise could that early in the game.

Pretty much what Glassman789 said, you gotta go at least 3 levels deep to find the good stuff and experiment with spells but finding decent wands early on is possible although uncommon.

After 35 deaths I managed to get my first win. I don't know if that considered to be good or not but I found my set up to be quite fun and decent:

1st wand: Built around killing small mobs with decent to fast fire rate. Lightning bolt spell is great although rare. The "shotgun" spell is more common and also works good as long as the fire rate is high.

2nd wand: I usually use as a digging wand whether it be chainsaw or dynamite. It can be used to dig gold in the second level, reach secrets such as hidden health pick ups or wands or just be used tactically if you are going against a dangerous opponent. Black hole is by far the best option if you feel like skipping a level since it eats through everything.

3rd wand: Destruction. I build this wand around massive explosions to wipe out the most dangerous of enemies.

4th wand: Anything.

Remember that the perks you choose could have a large impact on how you edit your wands in the later levels. Explosion immunity is one of the more useful perks since it lets you make crazy and powerful wands (given you got any explosives) without risking killing yourself. I recommend you use large firebolts when you find them and put them on a non-shuffle wand that casts 2 or more at the same time. Another Highly useful spell is lightning bolt, it is very powerful against mid tier enemies such as the sentries and still holds up against the tougher enemies at the last levels.

Having those two wands makes you the ultimate killing machine.

Just out of curiosity, what level do you reach in most of your runs? Are you having extremely bad luck at the early ones?

I would use the more loadouts mod that the developer made and put into the game. Just activate it and you will have pretty strong wands that will help you make it further to find even better wants.
