The angry god mechanic is just not fun
99% of the times the gods get angry, its because a worm exists. Why does the god get angry at ME? It just isn't fun. I never get excited about the Gods getting angry over some pixels that aren't even in my field of view.

have you considered not being bad at the game?
you are given free gold in the form of mr skeleton moneybags and you cry about it

Yeah, the randomly generated worms are definitely OP's fault.

I suppose you are a troll, but:

-The god getting angry at a random event happening outside my field of view is not a measurement of how good I am.

-Having a wand that is capable of penetrating an insanely fast recovering shield is not a measurement of how good I am.

-Even if I was bad at the game (I think I'm just mildly bad), I still have the right to have fun.

-Also you are rude.

I feel you OP, I had a good run ruined by it a couple days ago. Tough, have you tried to launch a tablet at his face?
Mora Oct 29, 2019 @ 7:41am
Can someone explain this tablet thing for me? This was suggested to me regarding the same problem. I threw a tablet at it, nothing happened. I thought maybe I missed. I managed to pick it up again before dying and threw again, this time surely hitting. Nothing happened.

Does it have to be specific tablet or what?
Napo Oct 29, 2019 @ 7:43am
It's supposed to work as the boulders/minecarts do with the other ennemies, the gravity one shots him. But it might be bugged, you're not the only one complaining about it being ineffective
ShinyBuhBuhSaur Oct 29, 2019 @ 10:37am
For the tablet/rock/gravity method of throwing it at the god, the hit box can be really wonky sometimes it seems. I was using a wand that had 'Always cast boulder' and I would swear it would hit enemies but do nothing to them. Seems like it has to be really dead on to work.

As for the angry god, it sucks when it's pretty early on in the first floor or two before you've gotten good enough stuff. Even later on a bad run it could be run ending. I would recommend to never pick up the worm attractor/detractor perks until you can deal with the god. They will almost always cause the worms to tunnel into the holy mountain.

Melee spells also go straight through his shield. A luminous drill or chainsaws can make quick work of him if you get inside his shield. Little dangerous but if you are mostly full on health skip the full heal at the start of the holy mountain if you know or suspect the god will get angry very soon or he already is. Get in close, take a shot or two if you can and chainsaw him to death, then go heal.

A lot of people talk about killing the guardian or dying, not many people just run or talk about the problems with the guardian. It getting angry at you for enemy/acid is to prevent cheese, but in return it punishes people for no fault of their own with the catch of you can just ignore the angering mechanic completely by going around for the most part for any time it would be beneficial to anger it.

They don't accomplish anything in practice as I've found running/fighting methods to work most of the time removing a punishment... which makes the punishment pointless...

There are two ways to change this...

1: The guardian only spawns if a Player destroys things, but is near invincible.
2: The guardian spawns from anything, but starts weak with no shield, getting stronger each time you anger the gods becoming near to the first near the last Holy Mountain. (To eventually just following you through walls with a shield and perhaps dealing 50% of max health damage.)

I'd prefer number 2 due to it being fair, keeping them in, and in turn having them be relevant as with any other solution people will be punished or use alternate methods to get around the mountain area... but with this you can break a fair amount but in turn are punished for doing it too much.

- Someone used to dealing with the guardian, it doesn't bother me but I've found it needs refinement to be good for everyone.

-The god getting angry at a random event happening outside my field of view is not a measurement of how good I am.

the gods getting angry has no impact on you whatsoever

-Having a wand that is capable of penetrating an insanely fast recovering shield is not a measurement of how good I am.

why are you trying to kill him with a wand? there are flasks and tablets to cheese the guardian

-Even if I was bad at the game (I think I'm just mildly bad), I still have the right to have fun.

you have the right to play the game you have bought, having fun is something you will be able to do once you get good

-Also you are rude.

nah, I'm simply saying that you aren't using your head
don't get mad at facts, just adjust your playstyle because there's a hundred ways to kill the guardian without losing HP

Every time there's a worm I know about it, because fps drops from 60 to 5. Time after time he crashes the game. Could it be less destructive or maybe optimized somehow?

The game dosen't slow down at all for me when a worm spawns. Only when there is like 5 of them at once witch only can really happen in the jungle of you break the cocoons.

My CPU is a AMDFX-8300 8 Core 4.2ghz

-The gods getting angry have an impact on me, they come at me killing me with a mega-shield

-So now my playstyle has to be about getting ready for whether or not a random worm will piss a god off?

-This isn't 1988, game development has evolved to understand that just being hard isn't enough for a mechanic to be fun

-Yes you are rude. If you think this isn't rude, then I guess this is your normal and you must be a pain in the ass of a person to be around.

Do you think you come across as cool or something? No one is impressed and you just sound like an absolute douche.

Lots and lots of non douche's have reported a dislike of this mechanic and the devs have already made a few changes to alleviate it somewhat. I personally have found it happens alot less frequently now compared to when I started playing. If your not on the beta branch, try switching to it.

The game is supposed to be harsh as hell, so I don't think it will ever go away (other things angering the Gods). They should at least change the text IMO.
Once you get more experienced with the mechanics of the game and what you need to do to set your run up he becomes less of an issue.
Don't get me wrong, the bastard has been triggered on me on a hard seed killing me at Holy Mountain 1 just recently and its just as annoying as it was when I started, but thankfully nowadays if the seed doesn't screw me over I can take him most of the time right at the start

Let me say, on behalf of other MLG 360noscope Noita pros, that Sneed's being needlessly abrasive and condescending for no reason.

I'll just say this: 1) the lich spawning from worms is only somewhat intended and it's a very common complaint so you're not alone. The devs tried toning it down a whole lot a couple patches ago and didn't succeed. Don't know how it currently is. 2) The lich isn't hard to deal with. I understand that the principle of the matter is "this shouldn't be happening in the first place;" I get that. The devs seem to intend that it does happen, but only once in a blue moon, to keep things interesting, just like an enemy finding a super powerful wand and wrecking the level when it sees you.

For point 1, there's nothing you can do about it for now, except mod your game. For point 2, half the liquids in the game hard counter the lich. You're almost guaranteed to find a teleport, charm, or polymorph flask in the Mines to throw; or you can douse yourself in invisibility. If all else fails you can chuck the tablet (just don't miss, and make sure your cursor is far away).
