SERIOUS -- I figured out how to survive completing The Work

Uh, what? The game stops counting gold once you go over a few hundred thousand. It literally changes to an infinity sign. Explain.

So far it's been pretty consistent for me: after a few seconds of completing the Work, it instakills you. But if you dig out of the room immediately, you never die, and you're free to explore and basically just stand in rivers of gold until you get however rich you want.

If you complete a different ending, yes, your gold becomes an infinity sign because you're supposed to be swimming in it. I'm pretty sure this one's just a (remarkably simple) exploit, so the same thing doesn't happen. I've personally gotten almost 1 million gold before I got bored and ended it.

Is there anything worth doing once you survive? I have a cool wand setup that provides strong digging and flight knockback.

The extra knockback and damage from glass cannon on this wand let's you dig straight down through most terrain and sustain around 2-4k damage per .1 sec.

I've collected most of the volcanic river as gold... Is there anything fun left to do?
