Just keep that pre-caution in mind and never hold a electric wand out if you are going into any pool of liquid that will fully submerge you. Overall its very easy to avoid this problem unless you forget.
Its very obvious to realize hmm maybe i should not jump in a pool of water with this electric wand?
It even happens in the darn trailer for the game......

I feel wands should have a row for "flags" that indicate other special features. This could later be used for other things, but it could also show a flag for wands that produce electricity, indicating that it's electrified. Maybe flags that are derived from the spells in the wand could have a special background and indicator in their mouseover description to make this clear to the player.
