What does the Secretorium Hernetus do?

If you head left from the starting area instead of right you can encounter an underwater cavern, a mysterious item, and a worm. Not sure what it does, other than make the worm attack you. Anyone else seen this item?

Yeah, I saw the cavern too. Did you go up the massive tree? There's a branch with a worm egg on it, but you gotta boost up carefully

to the left of the collapsed mines theres an area thats pitch black unless youre tripping out from drinking that egg worms blood

still no idea if the scrolls do anything beyond just giving you game lore, some of them read as if they would grant you something but nothing ive done with them has had any impact.

Apparently there's four scrolls found so far, one in the mines all the way to the right next to a massive lava lake (Not sure if you can go all the way across it, would need some special wand combo to freeze the lava I guess) and the others are scattered across the surface. There's even additional hidden areas with their own unique enemies and terrain gen on the surface, but you have to be kitted out to get very far as those places are extra difficult.

Just pour water on the lava and make a bridge. One of the secrets is over on the other side if you climb alittle

I just got across the lava lake using a blood flask, found a regular treasure chest full of gold and then a massive cavern which lead to the icy area with all the difficult enemies, got murdered within a minute. Didn't find any secrets, there was just a super steep cliff off into a huge expanse leading to the other caverns, maybe I missed something.

its on the other side of the chasm, not at the bottom of it. If you miss the jump you can still climb up from the bottom

Ah I see, thank you. I'll have to give it another go, but am kinda spent for now lol. Played 8 hours so far and keep getting massacred in the snow biome
