Tips
I'd like to dedicate this post to gather as many tips as possible to one place to make it easier for players to get better at the game. The endgame for this is that hopefully all the tips posted here can end up in a comprehensive guide or in the wiki so that more of the games mechanics can be unearthed for the community to exploit to their enjoyment.

Personal contribution:

Strats against being on fire

We all have times when we think to ourselves; 'Do i really want to be on fire right now?'
If the answer is no, follow the instructions below.

________________________________________________________________________

1: Avoid oil and fire.

- Fire will set you on fire

- Only cross paths with fire if you're heavily soaked in fire retardant liquid. Your robes are at least as flammable as wood

- Oil will help fire set you on fire

- Oil is slippery, you will slide into fire
________________________________________________________________________

2: Dip yourself into a pool of your choosing.

- Fire won't light on your robes until the flames have evaporated most of the fire retardant
liquids covering you.

- Toxic sludge (Green goop) will not kill you, it will only lower your health a lot. Use if no water or slime

- Blood, blood is nice, blood is good. Blood for the blood god. Kill enemies to make pools of blood to swim in

- Slime slows you down, but it doesn't set on fire. Use it to wash if there is no water

- Water washes away the fire, sludge, slime, acid, blood, oil and your sin

!TAKE NOTE! Being drenched in water or blood will keep you safe from lighting aflame until all of the water has evaporated off your body.
This means that being even 1% wet will prevent you from lighting on fire, essentially making you fireproof while standing in a puddle. Being 100% wet is ideal since it gives you the most time you can spend being licked by flames without combusting, meaning you can cross even vast oceans of pure hellfire. The exception to this is being when covered in oil

- Acid is bad, don't extinguish fire with acid

- Most of the potions will not be very helpful. If you're in a pinch, sure, chuck that poly onto yourself and deprive the fire from oxygen. However most of these will not protect you from lighting on fire and can have unpleasant and unintended consequences.
For example; polymorphing into a sheep will make you even more flammable and vulnerable and tele can of course ruin your day by making you invade the privacy of someone who very much would like to eat some ♥♥♥ at that very moment

2.1: Press down while standing in shallow pools to drench yourself further with liquid. Good to know when on fire, this saved me once already
________________________________________________________________________

3: Carry flasks of liquid.

- Press right click if you're not in a particular hurry to put yourself out

- Left click that ♥♥♥♥ if you're about to die

- Empty a potion with right click and go dipping into a pool of water and the empty
flask will fill itself. Water is the best liquid. It can even dissolve Toxic Sludge. 10/10
[If it is a potion that you particularly don't want laying in a pool for all enemies to access, press down to drink it until there is no more (Berserker liquid)]
________________________________________________________________________

4: Get Perks.

- Fire Immunity - Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer

- More Blood - More blood, less fire

- Electricity immunity is not a good perk for not being set on fire. Things will detonate and set on fire a lot while you have this perk

- Other Perks i might not have thought about
________________________________________________________________________

5: Use Spells.

- Spells like rain cloud are really nice for dealing with fire based enemies. You can almost instantly douse yourself and put out pretty much anything

- Keep in mind that fire enemies take damage from water (And drop nice loot while doing it)

- Use chainsaw or a digging spell to dig into the blood sacks that are enemy bodies. You will quickly amass a deep pool of crimson goodness

- Even your basic spark bolt can put out basic fires with the blast radius. You can do small time fire control with it. Experiment with other types of spells and see if they have an effect
________________________________________________________________________

6: Follow Gun(Wand) safety rules.

- Treat every wand as if it is loaded

- Control the direction of the wand

- Be sure of your target and the backround before you pull the trigger

- Don't point at ♥♥♥♥ you don't want to shoot

- Don't leave your wand unattended (Mobs will shoot you with it)

- Don't mix fire and whiskey

+ Beware of electricity, it will betray you
________________________________________________________________________

P.S. I still get set on fire a lot, even though wrote all this.
For example; https://imgur.com/a/cQB26gB

Edit: I did a bunch of edits to try and make this ♥♥♥♥ more readable. I dunno if it worked.

Doesn't pressing down while in a liquid cause you to drink said liquid? I've accidentally drank the water I needed to put myself out with while I was on fire once. At the same time though, when I was trapped under water one time I was able to drink it all to stop myself from drowning.
I'm pretty sure if you press down over the body of a dead enemy will cause you to eat them as well actually.

It does cause you to drink the liquid. I only recommend this for puddles too small to normally put you out because i noticed it will make the fire extinguish faster. I'm not 100% if it's because you lower yourself while you do this or because of the water splash but i'm pretty sure it works.

Just did it with teleport liquid, it extinguished me but i got teleported into lava and died lol.

One small addition, you can actually use pools of oil to put yourself out. If you dip yourself into the oil fast enough, it won't set alight and you will be extinguished. It's pretty risky though, so only do it if you're almost dead or experimenting.

Reconfigure your starting wands as soon as you can. The second wand's cast delay and recharge times are godly, and putting a single spark bolt in there turns it into a machine gun.

It does not cause you to "drink" it, but the water is consumed when soaking your robes with it. How Noita handles the effects is, once again, based entirely on a pixel map. The degree of the ailment is determined by how many pixels of your sprite are affected. This is very evident with slime(pink liquid); more slime equals a lower movement speed. The soaking mechanic cleans off the robe gradually but destroys the liquid.

No its drinking. Crouching does make you drink liquids even the devs said that its drinking.

It's definitely drinking, you can drink whiskey and get a headache or drink worm blood / fungus and trip balls

Alright thanks for the heads up. Drinking just didn't make any sense to me in this game but I guess I was wrong.

1. If something seems dangerous (or even just likely to damage you, like the presence of fire or ooze), go somewhere else. The world is huge and there's lots to explore - you don't need to charge into danger.

2. You don't get too much from killing enemies (you can get much more gold by mining.) Avoid any fights that seem risky.

3. Your starting bomb wand is very valuable due to its low cast / reload times (though its low mana / mana regen holds it back.) In a pinch, putting any low-cost damage spell on it can make a decent weapon. It can also be useful with digging spells or spells to create water and the like. Don't discard it until you have another low-cast + low-reload wand.

Ditto, the bomb wand is godly in the right hands. Took me a bit to realize this and i felt like quite the idiot once i found out what kind of rpm that baby could pull off. Got all the way down to level 5 with only the bomb wand and a digging blast + breathless. Made dissolve powders completely obsolete.

- Having trouble with Fire Wizards? Lure them to water or use a flask to douse them. Puts 'em right out.

- Can't quite reach where you're trying to go? Polymorphing yourself lets you levitate without using your gauge, extending your vertical range.

- Playing around with spell order can make a big difference, and some combos can produce surprising effects (e.g. Tentacle + Speed Up extends your range)

- Don't play with acid in the temple

- Don't play with acid in the temple

- Crit modifiers are really good later on, so hold onto them if you find any
LoMoCoMo Sep 28, 2019 @ 6:33pm
Oh, and if you see a spooky ghost, run
Aquillion Sep 28, 2019 @ 6:34pm
Actually, the spooky ghost can be beaten in a few ways (polymorph, or trapping it with liquids and stuff.) If you can, it's worth a ton of gold.

And playing with acid in the temple lets you enter and leave repeatedly, so it's a trade-off.
LoMoCoMo Sep 28, 2019 @ 6:39pm
Yeah, I've beaten it, but the first time I found one it almost evaporated me lol

If you find 'Perk Lottery' in the holy mountain, TAKE IT. If you get it early it can make you overpowerted. I got it in the 4th level so i doubted its usefulness, but in the next holy mountain managed to take all 3 perks!
