For example, if you have zero damage cap, and you see constant 9999 from, say, your normal attack combo(before using finisher), you're at the damage cap.
When you use a skill, and you see constant 19,000's, you're at the damage cap.
If the number you're seeing still varies like so:
Normal attack 1 first hit: 9639
Normal attack 1 second attempt: 9999
Normal attack 1 third attempt: 9122
You'll be close to damage cap, but not quite there. Once you see the same numbers repeating for certain attacks, your damage has hit the cap.
You have to balance between damage and damage cap, so you can reach the cap.
On my Narmaya I have 5 Damage Cap V. The blue butterfly attack reaches the cap all the time, the red ones not always.
I see! Thank you very much!
Isn't that because you attack weaker element?
-------------------------
Also, I kinda wanted to find an instant way to clear dmg done vs Dummy, instead of having to sort of ''restart'', but maybe thats just me
Yep. Elemental weakness ignores dmg cap. Thats why everyone wants War elemental.
Light inputs, Heavy inputs, skill, link and SBA. Light/Heavy being X/Square/Left click and Y/Triangle/Right click respectively.
Each hit has slight variance, around +/-5%, so with 100 attack you could hit between 95-105 damage. Unless you're damage capped, in which case you always hit the same number e.g. every hit deals 105 damage.
Every attack that shares an input shares a damage cap, so all your various light input attacks share a cap, but because different attacks have different scaling, some hits will hit damage cap earlier than others. Usually the last hit of a combo will cap earlier than the others because it has the highest attack scaling. The same goes for heavy inputs, link attacks and SBA.
Skills each have their own unique damage cap. Because of attack scaling, some skills will hit damage cap much earlier/later than others.
