blehhh, I hate Japanese story telling I really do.
but gameplay loop is fun, the grind is where the game is at....
and if you are in here for story only, then pass XD
better watch some 18+ mature dark anime instead of this crap.
I'm only on chapter 5 (I think) and this ice wolf is just crazy. I honestly don't get the "game is easy" thing. Maybe I just suck but this boss is kicking my ass. But I also do have a lot of materials to spend on upgrading that I haven't done much of yet because I don't know if I should use a lot on one character or spread em out.
No, it's not. It's nothing revolutionary but it is well told with great voice acting (Japanese).
What I found refreshing is that the whole early game super boring part of the story just isn't there, except throught fate episodes.
You DON'T run around the heros starting village until you meet the girl, get linked, defeat the empire, etc.
I found getting bits and pieces of stuff the crew did before so mich better.
It's like skipping the entire early Midgard section in FF7 and just starting on the overworld.
Theres a real anime on the cygames youtube channel if you want to get an idea what youll be working with.
It basically drops you 70% of the way into the story. As result the character development and bonding etc just isnt there. There's a lot of very cool moments that fall mostly flat because of this.
That "whole early game super boring part of the story" is needed to gain familiarity and attachment with the cast, for them to also to bond with each other, and to gain character development. Without it, scenes are cool and flashy, but devoid of emotional attachment.
Its not because of anime, its because there's little reason for people who aren't already fans of Granblue to be invested into the cast and what happens since we just get dropped halfway into the story.
Which is a shame, because the cutscenes etc are very well made.
When it comes to the story, this is very much a game made for people that are already fans, and who are already attached to the cast.
