What are the best mods for Civilization IV?

What are the best mods?
And are there any compatible mods, that you can't install at once?
Or is it better do to it one at a time?

You can only load one mod at a time so you either play with modpacks or single mods. I don't have much experience with Civ 4 mods but atleast Fall from heaven 2 is amazing. It's even better with the More naval AI modmod. "Modmods" are like addons for existing mods basically.

to me, the better is "Rhyes and fall random". Second place ex-aequo are: "Sengoku Jidai" and "Pie Ancient Europe" which are excellent.
"fall from Heaven" is astounishingly well done, but once you have understood how it works, I think the AI is too weak for a challenge. So I usuallu get bored before the end of the game.

Well, I'm speaking from old memories since I've never been able to install those mods on steam. (I had CIV4 Cds, but it wouldn't install on my new PC, so I got it on steam)

Fall from Heaven by far is the best mod. It has mechanics that too this day no modern 4x fantasy game has been able to recreate.

Rhye's And Fall
Conflict on Chiron (it's Alpha Centauri in Civ4 engine, great)
Fall From Heaven and its 20000+ modmods. I personally prefer Master of Mana, although it got pretty wonky as the versions kept coming and the game became less and less like vanilla civ.

After some research, I will also add quite interesting and really huge (I even could go through the technology screen).
caveman2cosmos - This mod adds a prehistoric period of humanity, a huge amount of new stuff.

I've tried realism invictus and caveman to cosmos, I generally uninstall them 15 minutes after trying them.

they are extremely ugly. I'm not a vain person but the people behind the mod thought this was an improvement? I dread any other changes they might have made.
