When using Virtual Desktop, it's possible to play the game with hand tracking, but the tracking is limited to hands position and fingers movements are used for both inputs and triggers. It's not exactly great considering many "input" (buttons) equivalent are kinda unusual.
The reason why Virtual Desktop (kinda) works is because it's actually using the native internal hardware of the headset for hand tracking while, on the other hand (pun intended), the Oculus App (required to run the Oculus Link and Air mode) takes over the headset's OS in a sort of sandbox mode once linked.
