Since the Grand Update all interaction is done using the Grip, with an option to have the Trigger to perform the same function (in some cases). As a result there's no reliable way to distinguish between whether you want to grab the pointer or the fore-grip/-guard, nor is there any reliable way to distinguish between whether you want to grab the fore-grip to remove it or to use it. Without those distinctions the only assumption is that you want to grab - and use - the grip, so a work-around is required to do otherwise.
It is not an ideal system. But after you have levelled up a bit and got some weapons that you like, not much of a reason to pick up items in the field.
It is not ideal at all and frankly I don't consider it tied to leveling up, but just for the pure fun of switching things around. I mean also the actual underbarrel laser is very prices but it will not collimate with the optics. So if you want to use the optics for a proper shot, you have to see the laser for a precise shot and not your own optics (which somehow are not collimating on the right distance, let's say 50-100m and you can't adjust that). And since apparently you can't switch off the laser (I hear a click if i pull the left trigger but it stays on), it becomes very annoying on long or short distances while using the optics...to the point it would be just more ideal in that particular situation to just get the annoying laser away from the barrel...and you can't do that without another underbarrel attachment. It's all like a chain reaction of things leading to general annoyment lol.
