Virtual gun stock options

So can anyone explain to me what the Virtual gun stock options does? I can't seem to notice any difference switching between them. I play with normal hand controllers, not a physical gun stock thingy.

It used to make full-sized weapons, with their stocks extended, much more stable. It reduced controller jitter and slowed the rate at which rifles would slew so that you could more reliably line up shots with scopes.

I haven't gotten around to playing the new update myself yet, but those I've talked to who've been awaiting the 'big' update alongside me tell me that one of the things the update did is outright break the virtual stock; at present it doesn't do anything at all.
