That's not a stupid question at all. :)
Are you on a Quest 1/2?
Are you using Virtual Desktop to stream the game, or are you playing tethered?
If you are playing through Virtual Desktop, then there is a community binding that works while we investigate this issue.
With Virtual Desktop, I can confirm the following issues/points:
• For a long while by now, launching the game via any methods outside of going through SteamVR HUB/Menu crashes the game 100%.
Until around early 2023, you could run SteamVR in solo (without actually launching Steam itself) to run the game without the Steam API's HUB/Menu, but it's not possible anymore.
• While the Steam API is running, the "Menu_Left" function call on the controller is not working at all. For the same reason as why the menu isn't opening even behind the SteamVR Overlay, if you set the function (via the VR input manager in SteamVR) to something else, it doesn't work at all. For example, I create a new modified version of the inputs for ZCvr and attributed the "Left_Menu" function to click on the right thumbstick (as both thumbsticks clicks are for enabling Run, if applicable) and it doesn't open the menu either.
I also tried to apply the "Left_Menu" to the Left controller's menu button for the "Touch" feature (as Quest 2/Pro/3 has touch detection on all buttons) and it didn't work.
• While using the Oculus Software and Link or Air Link, the "Left Menu" works as intended.
So the issue comes from something that is handled by SteamVR and VD that "overwrites" the left menu completely.
You want to tell me as of this moment, it's impossible to access the menu on quest unless using air link? Not even with a keyboard (physical keyboard) shortcut? Or at least before starting a mission?
I don't know the game very well so I am a bit lost, it did a benchmark at the start and then no menu at all ever and quitting a mission is also impossible.
That has nothing to do with meta, just with developers not implementing controllers very well. The game was perfectly playable, I played it last time December 2023 without any problems, I think you just have to load a different config for the controllers in steam input
^this. luckily the game only cost me 5 bucks but cmon
