Hows the PvE?
I'm interested in trying this game out, but I'm only a PvE player. How will I enjoy the game?

Unfortunately, most pve content are restricted by weekly caps. However, even in PvP you can still do semi PvE content.

As a "hardcore" pve player (as in I pretty much only do pve when possible) I can say that a there is a lot to do as a pve fan. There are several weekly events that involve pve (Faerie Funland, Ninefold, Angler's Atoll) and several of the pvp weekly events have ways to participate and get rewards as a pve player (Starshatter - mine ores instead of pvp for points, Snowpine Peak - farm snowballs instead of pvp for points) although you do need to keep in mind that these areas (Starshatter and Snowpine from example) are pvp maps and there is always the possibility that you will experience pvp on these maps and will not be left alone to quietly farm. Personally I played at level 69 for 3 months (ish I think?) and was able to complete these events by being smart about how I participated and not being afraid to die a couple times to complete them.

Here is some content you can look forward to that may not be directly obvious (such as dungeons)
  • Scenic Chronicles and Mythos: For those who love lore (or are looking for faction points)
  • Extensive crafting system that is also linked to the housing system (make your own furniture!)
  • Task Boards: A way to get faction points (which is tied to crafting)
  • Adventure League: Offering small quests for exp, imperial notes, and Bid tokens (currency)
  • Curious Events: Unlimited (as long as you have enough Peculiar Tickets) way to help get important items for gearing such as tier beads, dragonspikes, and more
  • Class Faction Event: Get class faction points for dao and Grandmaster Scrolls (for your special skill) by fighting mobs and a boss in your class faction area multiple times a day

The list goes on. Personally I can play for 5-6 hours (on the weekends cause rl :/ ) and not run out of things to do without resorting to participating in battlefield.

One thing to keep in mind though is that PvP is closely linked to PvE in this game. While it is possible to get the things you need without participating in PvP directly (such as the options for Starshatter/Snowpine Peak) it will slow your progress a bit in some areas. An example of this is Imperial Wars (69+ on old servers only) which greatly contribute to your badge development which is a pvp map for server vs server. Again there are definitely PvE options for this content, but it is faster and easier if you are present during pvp (Join a raid hide in the middle of the pack and rack up the points without doing much at all!)

Thats great to know but... I really, really don't like PvP or being forced to do so. The reason why I only played BnS after the patches was because they made PvP completly optional... I don't know. I guess I'll give the game a try and check if I like it enough to drop it once i feel like its too much "forced pvp"

The only pvp you are ever forced to face is open world pvp. On darkfall this very rarely occurs (some occasional drama between big guilds or at world bosses) but I can't speak the other servers (though I strongly suspect they are the same). If you do encounter open world pvp try to leave the area before they engage you or if you are killed go do something else for a bit and come back later.

All other pvp is completely optional and you can skip that part of that game. Again there are benefits to participating in that content or going into pvp areas to do the pve portion of it but you can gear a character (pvp marks excluded) without participating in any sort of pvp content.

Remember that this is a mainly pvp focussed game though.

If you are on a optimal mob grinding spot for your daily monsters, People could turn on pvp mode and attack you anywhere in the world.

PvP also affects certain weekly bonusses that you get with the clan wars ever weekend where you need to try and hold a bastion or castle with your guild.

PvP is also a way where you can improve your badge progression a lot quicker every week.

Dont let everybody sugarcoat that PvP is optional in this game, Its not.

That said. There is decent PvE content to be found in this game. the dungeons can be relatively fun and challenging. It all comes down on gearchecks in the end but its fun for a little while.

Can't I just disable the PvP flag for my character like in any other normal MMO? Is it badly forced like in BDO?

Your pvp "flag" or slayer is something you turn on so that you can hit others. This means that other players can turn on slayer and hit you and you have nothing stopping that unless you move to a safe area such as a town. Again open world pvp has been very infrequent in my experience and not something that should be on the top of your list of worries.

@Vertiligo - go back and read what I wrote. Seriously I even talked about badge fragments and how it is linked to imperial wars/pvp. I am not sugar coating it. Yes you can play the game without participating in pvp but as I wrote several times including when I said in my last post "Again there are benefits to participating in that [pvp] content" It is completely possible, its just not super advisable which is why I also stated that there are methods of completing pvp events while doing pve alternatives (starshatter/snowpine) if you aren't afraid to face a bit of dying to do so.
