I’m a ‘new’ player. Casual. Solo (maybe I’ll try multiplayers later).
Also, I don’t consider myself as a good player. I’m not good, but hey, I enjoy this game.
I'm not sure I'm the most qualified to answer so I’ll just share my thoughts.
When I bought this Alpha version, months ago (or a year ago? Can’t remember.), I tried Area-12 chapter 1 and it seemed too complicated for me so I decided to put the game aside and wait patiently for updates (I knew it was an Alpha, meaning things may change, bugs can happen, etc.).
At that time I thought the game had great potential but needed adjustments. It's an Alpha version so it's normal.
I returned to the game this week and my first impression is : Everything seems « better » (compared to the little I had played previously, and from what I’ve whatched on videos) .
I tried different missions to get familiar with the game mechanics and maps. It's a trial and error game, I died and I learned and I was able to move on a little further...etc. and I like that. :)
⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
CHAP 1. I tried to do the Area-12 chapter 1 again and it was a good surprise for me (I haven’t completed it yet, I like to take my time).
The orange cable helped me understand the direction in the first section. I managed that part pretty well (I’m proud ! LOL). Then I entered an area that acted as a tutorial, and it was really great. It helped me understand the different mechanics of the game without telling me too much, and apply them. It was great to get acquainted with what the game has to offer.
I think it was a good idea to do this, it’s very helpful for newbies like me.
The monsters I encountered on the map (so far) were, at first, few and easy to kill, then more numerous and/or harder to kill. This gave me some interesting progress on enemies management.
As I said I haven't completed this chapter 1 yet so I don't know what the rest of the level is like, but for now I'm pretty happy with it.
CHAP 2. I’ve completed the Area-12 chapter 2 map (after 4-5 hours and running in circles to find THE DAMN CODE for the projector room).
SCP-7528 is absolutely awesome. The way it was designed IG, moving from screen to screen, the pixels we can see when it moves, the screen effects when it attacks us….(Yes, it can be dizzying, flashy and downright annoying, but that's the point!) I LOVE IT! Even the sound it makes is great.
This SCP brings a nice new gameplay for this game. I mean, it’s not about killing monsters here, it’s about ALL THESE FCKING SCREENS EVERYWHERE that took me ages to destroyed LOL. After that, killing the soldiers felt « out of place ». It’s like, I’m in a room watching a movie, and suddenly an armed squad broke my door and tried to kill me. I’m not complaining, it’s just an observation.
Anyways, I loved this chapter.
CHAP 3. I started playing Area-12 chapter 3 and it's been interesting so far. I like that to "enter" this map we have to shoot the blue mass, then shoot the blue flowers, and destroy the blue mass. It's a good way to show the player how to proceed on this map, with this SCP. Also, the dead soldier with the spikes stuck in his body is a good indicator of possible attacks from the anomaly.
The map is pretty damn big, I went back and forth for 2 hours, managed to destroy the 3 big vines and restored power to all 3 areas (which I'm proud of). I had to quit the game to go to work, I couldn't get the checkpoint so I'll have to start over next time, but it'll be easier now that I know what to do and where to go for this first part at least.
RAID ON OUTPOST. In the Raid map (Outpost Axiom), I would like the camera to show me who killed me when I die. Sometimes I don't know where the enemy was and it annoys me a little, I would like to know where the enemy killed me from so I can improve my positioning.
Also...I don't really like infinite enemies. The good thing is, I can try to survive and get better with this map.
ANTARCTICA. (edit: I've completed the mission). I can say I like its atmosphere. It’s disturbing... having trouble to see enemies in the blizzard is scary. :D I was paranoid most of the time.
Infinite ennemies spawning is not for my taste. I don't like that. I understand for now it's WIP so I'm gussing it's a way to give the player something to do (trying to survive as long as possible).
WAVES OF ENEMIES. Enemies Waves is a good training map for survival and learning where to go, when run, watching our back, LEARNING NOT TO GET BLOCKED IN A CORNER AND DIE STUPIDLY FFS***IMSODUMB***.
I think this mode can be fun with friends but I'm not sure about playing solo here.
I can't really talk about weapons as I don't know much about them. I've tried the different weapon modes (auto/semi-auto/etc) and it can be handy at some point but I haven't played enough to really comment on them yet.
It’s nice to be able to customize our weapons. :)
I generally don't like puzzles because I suck at it (which is why I've never bought a puzzle game).
This game has puzzles but they don't really feel like puzzles to me, they feel more like "objectives". Yes, we have to go back and forth sometimes, but I don't really mind that.
Yes, I spent AGES searching for a code while running around the map like a cursed man, but I don't mind that.
That said, I understand why some players don't like that game mechanic.
I have a notebook and as I move forward or discover certain elements on a map I write everything down. This helps me to find my way around.
I do like exploring...and this game has a LOT of good exploration. The areas are huge. As a single player, at least, it feels huge.
Sometimes I’ll find a room, thinking I will move on to the next part but nooooo, this is just a ‘random’ room with nothing to do, I can’t go this way... Well, okay then. It’s good, I like that. Because we are soldiers on a mission but we don't know the map (because it's a secret area and all), so we have to find our way, and sometimes we take the wrong path, end up in a random room and have to backtrack, and that's awesome in my opinion. :) Even if it’s frustrating and oh-sh*t-173-is-behind-me-and-this-is-not-an-exit-IMF%CKED.
I enjoy the trial and error mechanics.
The maps are beautiful, I love all the references to the foundation (posters, screens, etc.).
The atmosphere is crazy, the music is perfect. And the noises...the noises! 173 ‘walking’ around and being heard as if he were everywhere around us, it's so good. The zombies' growls, etc. It's awesome.
Also the SCPs are great. Love their design.
I’m glad there are checkpoints now. While it can be tricky to figure out how to unlock them (to have advanced enough in the game to reach this point I mean), at least I know they exist and I won't have to do EVERYTHING again after a certain point.
It’s a little frustrating when I spent 3 hours on a map and haven’t found the checkpoint yet, and I have to quit the game. The good thing is, I will be able to progress quicker next time and maybe unlock the checkpoint.
I can’t talk about it since I’m not familiar with this type of game (tactical FPS) and I’m bad at it LOL. All I know is sometimes I get headshot and instant die. Other times enemies seem to be blind. And other times enemies can hide, find a good spot and attack me from behind.
In the few hours I've played so far, I haven't had many bugs.
-My weapon became invisible (Area-12 chap 3). I tested some keyboard keys, my character lowered his weapon (or put it away, I'm not sure) and after that the weapon was invisible (while the hand position showed that he was holding his weapon). I picked up another weapon (lying on the ground) and this problem was solved.
-In Antarctica map the storm’s wind can be seen inside the building.

Sorry for the long comment.
