Zombies aren't going to be entirely removed, that's never been our plan. That being said, they are definitely used in certain levels and areas in place of other SCPs/monster types that we will eventually be replacing them with in specific sections (those are being worked on/are in development though, but it will simply take time as there is a lot that goes into them).

Not that I am aware of, no. Unless there is something stated or posted a long time ago that I am missing I don't believe zombies were ever meant to be entirely replaced, but rather subbed out later in certain sections where they are currently being used as placeholder (as I have mentioned above).

The zombies are a thing in the SCP universe so I don't see any issue with this, just re-used a bit too much.

I don't mind the zombie style enemies. When you need to give some action to the player(s) to shake things up, small little engagements here and there are alright and they are easy to take out and could act as a tell to a bigger monster down the hall if you're weapons aren't silenced. Hopefully there will be more models added for them at some point. As of right now, I think the visual variety is what hampers them the most in tandem with not much in the way of visual carnage. Aiming at head level (as you should), there is little in the way of seeing blood puddles, splatters and such so it kinda takes the impact away from the kills not seeing any sort of effect on the floor. Walls get suitably covered if they are close enough. But the ground is left barren. The visual damage to the enemies is nice. But I think those two things could help.
